Your position in our crew

General

For an international multi-year project in the maritime industry, NVL Services is advertising the position of a “Field Service Engineer Electric and Electronic”. The “Field Service Engineer Electric and Electronic” is responsible for the technical support on maintenance, repair and upgrade tasks of the customer’s fleet inside customer´s country. 

The “Field Service Engineer Electric and Electronic” will support the customer’s team in maintenance planning, guide and track the maintenance team in preventive and corrective maintenance tasks and fault finding on customer vessels. Due to his specific know-how he is an expert on electric and electronic equipment but he is as well capable to support other systems on the vessels. As part of the know-how-transfer he will support the customer personnel with on-the-job and class room training. 

The “Field Service Engineer Electric and Electronic” reports directly to the head of customer maintenance department.

Area of Responsibility/ Tasks

  • Support maintenance planning
  • Support, guide and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Support and/or execute fault finding
  • Provision of technical analysis, respective status reports & deficiency reports 
  • Monitoring and reporting obsolescence status of on board systems
  • Execution of class room and on-the-job-training
  • Trouble shooting

Education

  • Electronic Engineer with Bachelor degree or similar educational background

Skills

  • Fluent in technical English (written and spoken)
  • Good knowledge of MS Office software or similar
  • Good knowledge in MS Project or similar planning tools
  • Self confidence
  • Persistence and reliability

Experience

  • More than 10 years’ of experience with electronic and electrical systems on ships, e.g. communication and navigation systems 
  • More than 10 years ’ of experience in ship building industry, ship operations or similar complex systems
  • Experienced in maintenance, repair or upgrade on vessels
  • Experienced in analyzing and writing requirements for electronic and electrical systems
  • Experienced in working with governmental institutions

Abilities

  • Ability to work in a team as well as independently
  • High technical understanding of known and new technologies
  • Good communication skills
  • Enthusiastic, open for innovation and capability to motivate and coach people
  • Solution-focused and result-oriented 
  • Creation of decision templates
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel 
  • Good social skills to work and live in international countries and cultures (middle east)
