 About the Lürssen Foundation

The Lürssen Foundation was established to have a positive impact on education, innovation and society, driving responsible change in the maritime industry and for those in its wider community. To achieve this goal, it has launched a funded scholarship programme that provides the next generation of engineers with access to research, industry mentorship, and the skills needed to drive responsible progress in the maritime industry. Over six months, scholars will gain hands-on experience and work on cutting-edge research projects under expert guidance. This is a unique opportunity to make a real impact, develop valuable skills, and take your ideas to the next level.

The scholarship programme will run from 24 March to 24 September 2025.

What to expect

The Lürssen Foundation is offering a six-month funded scholarship programme for students dedicated to develop innovative ideas for societal and environmental solutions. We invite university scholars to join us from 24 March to 24 September, to research and develop responsible, forward-thinking approaches to creating a more sustainable maritime industry.

This unique programme offers hands-on experiences, expert mentorship, and opportunities to work on cutting-edge research projects. It is your chance to make a real impact, develop your skills, and bring your ideas to life. Throughout the six months, scholars will have numerous opportunities to travel to Germany, Croatia, and the United States.

What you need

  • Applicants must be enrolled at a university or a university of applied sciences
  • They must be studying a subject in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM)
  • Applicants must have at least a B2 level of English
