What to expect

The Lürssen Foundation is offering a six-month funded scholarship programme for exceptional students committed to driving innovative societal and sustainable solutions. We invite university scholars to join our Laboratory of the Future, contributing to responsible transitions and digital transformations in the maritime industry.

This unique programme offers hands-on experiences, expert mentorship, and opportunities to work on cutting-edge research projects. It is your chance to make a real impact, develop your skills, and bring your ideas to life. Throughout the six months, scholars will have numerous opportunities to travel to Germany, Croatia, and the United States.

What you need

  • To be enrolled at a university or a university of applied sciences
  • A student of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM)
  • Dual students are also welcome to apply for the scholarship
  • B2 level or higher in English

  • Curriculum Vitae 
  • A 500-word proposal for a "clean energy in the maritime industry" R&D project envisioned for development during the scholarship programme
  • Up-to-date transcript of student records
  • Certificate of university enrolment 
  • Final high school transcript of records
  • Final bachelor transcript of records (if applicable)
  • B2 or higher certificate for English or proof of proficiency (if applicable)
  • A reference letter from previous internships (if applicable)
  • Letter of recommendation from a professor or industry professional (preferable)
